The Objective

Sussex Podcast Studio wanted a website that would translate into a fun, yet easy to navigate digital experience. The website needed to showcase their amazing studio through great imagery but it also had to feel inclusive to all audiences with a clean UI and multiple ways to drive studio bookings.

The UX Research

Market & Competitor Research:

To gain some insights into what the new Sussex Podcast Studio website needed and what it should include I delved into some market research into some of Sussex Podcast Studio’s direct competitors, I focused my attention on podcast studios of varying sizes.

I examined the following websites, Brown Bear Audio Podcast, Outset Studios & VoxPod. Through this research, I identified numerous strengths and weaknesses inherent in each website.

Competitor research strengths and weaknesses table:

Designing a website based off..

Imagery & Video Footage:

After carrying out user surveys and competitor analysis. One of the prominent findings from the user survey underscores the desire to see lots of imagery and video footage on the website. As this allows users to see how their footage may look before they book a session.

Trust:

The findings of the user surveys found that the majority of people asked thought it was important for there to be a section or a page dedicated to reviews and testimonials from people who have recorded in the studio, as this builds a good level of trust.

Information:

The results of the user surveys indicated that nearly all participants expressed a strong desire for their ideal website to feature lots of information about the recording space and all the equipment that will be used to record the podcasts.

The UX Design

Digital Wireframes

During the UX Design phase, I sought to design a website that had ample space for Sussex Podcast Studio’s high-quality imagery of their studio and guests recording there, as from my UX research this is important for a user to see.

Additionally, I placed the call-to-actions strategically to increase booking conversions and also inform users of everything Sussex Podcast Studio has to offer.

Prototyping & User Testing

Through prototyping, I transformed the initial design ideas into interactive mockups, enabling us to visualise the user journey to book the studio and find out important information.

I then ran a series of user tests on some of Sussex Podcast Studios’ team and some of their potential clients to get a good picture of the websites usability.
