Transforming and updating Consort Frozen Food’s online presence and brand.

Company Overview

Since its inception in 1987, Consort Frozen Foods has evolved from a modest ice cream delivery service to a leading wholesaler and distributor of frozen and ambient products in Southeast England. At the heart of their operation lies a commitment to excellent customer service, next-day delivery efficiency, and strong relationships with customers and suppliers, whom they consider part of their ‘frozen family’.

The Objective

My role was to collaborate with the other members of the design team at Casper Creative to create a website that reflected the Consort brand’s fun messaging, with improved product display, search functionality, and accurate product information, along with enhanced SEO capabilities.

The Design Phase

The design phase focused on creating a website that resonated with Consort’s brand image and the promotional materials they distribute monthly. The goal was to ensure a consistent look and feel across all customer touchpoints, reflecting the fun and approachable nature of their brand.

Our first step was to understand their competitive landscape and what set them apart, then to define how their brand personality could stand out in the space. We took inspiration from their existing colours, logo, and general visual style, and transformed it to feel more engaging.

We established a clean design language whilst using Consort’s shapes and colours, to add a quirkiness to the site. This would fit with the fun brand and messaging Consort has. With a wide range of ice cream and frozen food products to select from, the user journey and categorisation needed to be as simple and intuitive as possible. So we streamlined the navigation and filtering system directing Consort’s customers to their desired pages.

The designs were then passed onto the in house development team for the website build.

The website was integrated with Erudus for detailed product nutritional information and pack details. The new site provided a significant visual improvement, enhanced mobile usability, and opened new revenue streams through brand partnerships and online sales.
